I've been adopted!

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by their previous owner.

Why this pet is the one for you:
This gorgeous, speckled pup is Athena! Athena is a nervous gal who lacks confidence in new situations. Athena is looking for an adopter who will help her build confidence through positive reinforcement-based training, nose work games, and lots of positive experiences! Pups like Athena will benefit from being fed in things like puzzle feeders or bobble feeders so that she exercise and enjoy mental stimulation; just like when people complete tasks, win games, or work on puzzles. These things also keep her busy and can be a helpful outlet when she's home alone as she may get bored and try to find other ways to entertain herself. Ask your adoptions counselor about DIY enrichment toys you can make at home! You'll also get to talk with a trainer before adopting so they can answer any other questions you may have. According to Athena's previous owner she has done well with other dogs but does show some resource guarding of toys and food with dogs that she lives with. So she will do best as the only dog in the home or with a family that understands how to manage resource guarding properly. We always recommend letting your new pup adjust before taking them anywhere overstimulating, even if they are good with most things. The first day's home should be calm and focused on getting a steady routine for what everyday life will be like with your new companion.
