Why this pet is the one for you:
Are dogs and cats not really your style? Looking for an addition to your duck family? Ducks make wonderful pets who can form very deep bonds with humans! Ducks are social creatures and appreciate being around other ducks. Ducks require a completely predator-proofed outdoor space with fresh water for them to swim in. A small pond is ideal. Ducks should only be around other animals who know how to appropriately handle and interact with them. This goes for human children as well! Ducks eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, as well as a balanced duck pellet. They should also be given fresh water for drinking that they aren't swimming in. If you're interested in bringing a duck or two home, there is a lot of research to be done first! Not all homes are zoned for housing fowl. Make sure your city allows ducks to be kept on your property! If you don't already have a pond/large freshwater swimming area for the ducks, one will have to be created. There are lots of DIY options and some people use plastic children's swimming pools temporarily. However, ducks are at home in the water! They will thrive with a larger swimming area to play and relax in. They also require adequate grassy/dirt spaces to walk around and sunbathe on. Ducks are wonderful pets, and they do require a lot of planning, time, space, and possibly some backyard construction! With proper care, they can provide 5 to 10+ years of endless smiles with their adorable personalities and daily antics.
