How this pet arrived:
This pet was rescued by the Humane Law Enforcement Team on November 18, 2020.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Are you looking to bring some aviary joy to your home? Well, look no further. Froggy came in to SDHS from an overwhelmed owner. Froggy has some feather loss, and it will be important to quarantine them before adding them to an existing flock. It is important for doves to have large cages, especially wider ones. The cage should be at least 18in x 22in x 18in. The bigger the better, especially if you plan to house more than one dove in it. Doves are social birds and often mate for life. Froggy had to be separated from the other doves that they came in with, due to bullying. Offer a variety of perch styles and of varying diameters, which will help promote good foot health in your dove. Doves also need opportunities for bathing. Doves need grit in their diet because they eat their seeds whole. Provide several types of grit, as well as a calcium supplement. With proper care, most doves live between 12-15 years, some have even been known to live into their 20s!
