I've been adopted!
#705959 Age:Adult Weight: 3 lbs
How this pet arrived: This pet was transferred in from another shelter on 12/16/20.
Why this pet is the one for you: This special girl is Ruby Red and she didn't waste time capturing the hearts of our staff/volunteers! Ruby Red suffered some type of trauma to her ear that caused a hematoma to form. The hematoma makes her ear heavy, which is why she is adorably lopsided at the moment! Her lopsided ears seem to throw her off balance a bit, but it doesn't stop her from running zoomies and binkying all over! Ruby is a very sweet bunny who loves gentle pets on her head. Her foster parent says she is a cuddle bug who falls asleep in their lap while they pet her. Ruby has even figured out how to hop on a chair and then on her foster's bed so that she can spend more time snuggling! Ruby is VERY litter box trained, so she would be an ideal pick to live has a free-roaming house rabbit. Like most rabbits, she is a little shy at first, but she blossoms in a quiet environment. Ruby feels the most comfortable in a calm household, so she may do best with teens or adults. Many people don't like albino rabbits because of their pink eyes, but we think it's what makes her beautiful! Did you see her curly little whiskers? She couldn't be cuter if she tried! When she's not free-roaming, Ruby will need a large x-pen/playpen enclosure with at least 12 square feet of room to stretch out. Ruby Red will also need plenty of daily time to explore outside of her pen. Rabbits are intelligent and complex animals who do well in families with humans who understand that they are prey animals and do not enjoy being held/picked up. The best way to bond with them is to spend time with them outside of their pen and shower them with plenty of cilantro, romaine and timothy hay! Because rabbits need so much space and aren't easy to hold they aren't an ideal "starter pet." When rabbits get the space and enrichment they need, they often form deep bonds with their humans in the same way a dog or cat would. Ruby Red has been at SDHS for too long. She is one of the sweetest souls we have had the pleasure of knowing, and we think she deserves the best! If you're looking for a snuggly love bunny to be your reading buddy, look no further!
