How this pet arrived: Cici was brought in by a Good Samaritan on May 22, 2022.
Why this pet is the one for you: Say hello to Cici! Quail require secure housing with enough space for them to be comfortable and do "quail things." Proper ventilation is important for health and safety. Cici will appreciate somewhere dark to lay and an area with grasses, conifer sticks, and maybe a small log for them to tuck away. An appropriate habitat will provide them with shelter similar to their natural environment. Quail are not keen on climbing and spend most of their time on the ground, but can fly vertically if startled and will require housing that contains them. Please keep in mind the temperature changes in the winter when choosing your quail palace location. Cici came to us with a wound and an injury to her foot, that thanks to our veterinary staff is healing nicely but may still require some monitoring at home to make sure it continues to do so. Like most quail, Cici does not prefer to be handled and extra care is required when necessary. Quail startle easily and will appreciate slow and deliberate movements. Quail are not considered starter pets, so you might want to do your own research before adoption. If you are interested in Cici, come down to our San Diego Campus and ask about her today!
