Why this pet is the one for you:
This beautiful Californian Rabbit is Holly! Holly is a big girl with a big heart, and she's looking for a place to call home. Holly came to SDHS with her best buddy Molly, and they are a package deal! Holly and Molly are large breed rabbits who will even more space than your average bunny. These girls will need a large x-pen/playpen like enclosure with at least 12 square feet of room to call home. Rabbits are very easy to litter-box train, and "The Ollys" have been doing great with this at the shelter! They will also need plenty of daily time to explore outside of their pen in a large open space. Rabbits are intelligent and complex animals who do well in families with humans who understand that they are prey animals, and do not enjoy being held/picked up. The best way to bond with Holly and Molly is to spend time with them outside of their pen, and shower them with plenty of cilantro, Romaine, and Timothy hay! These girls will let you know when they are happy by giving you a bunny binky (a hop/ twist in the air)! Because rabbits need so much space and aren't easy to hold they aren't an ideal "starter pet". Rabbits usually do best with older children who can respect their boundaries. When Rabbits get the space and enrichment they need, they often form deep bonds with their humans in the same way a dog or cat would. If it's your dream to have a two bunnies to eat salads with and snuggle (on their level) then Holly and Molly may be the girls for you!
