Kittens are outgoing, confident, and energetic little babies- usually for their first 2 years of life! New kitten parents should be prepared to cat-proof their living environment, and provide lots of interaction, exercise, and play for their new kitten. At SDHS, kittens are "buy one get one 50% off", and they often do much better in pairs! Having another kitten to keep them company can teach appropriate play, provide companionship, and give them a fantastic outlet for all that playful energy. All kitties should have a small environment set up in their new home with food, water, toys, scratching surfaces, and a litter box.
