I've been adopted!

How the pet arrived: Gabbana had a tragedy strike her previous family. She was surrendered on August 5, 2019 to be re-homed.

At SDHS: Gabbana has been through a lot since entering the shelter. Distraught after being separated from her family and canine friend, she has been given extra support to ease her stress and get her ready for a new home. Gabbana has received excellent support and training from the Behavior and Training Team, and they are excited to meet her adopter(s) to pass along some tips for success!

Why the pet is the one for you:
Gabbana is a shepherd through and through -- intelligent, active and very loving and loyal to her people once she bonds. Gabbana has background living with an older male dog in her previous home and the two got along well, with Gabbana acting as the leader of the pair. With new people, Gabbana takes a little bit of time to warm up -- she's hesitant at first, but once you gain her trust you'll see her deeply affectionate and loving nature. Her last family stated she loved to cuddle in bed! Gabbana is still young and she's very active - she enjoys her time outside exploring and playing in the yard, spending time with her people and being pet. She is a giant love bug at heart who just needs a minute to unfold her wings!

We are very proud of Gabbana's progress while in our care -- Gabbana had a media segment on a local news channel recently (see photos for her celebrity debut), and did a great job with her trusted handler in what could be a novel stressful situation! Her trainers say she is an incredibly caring, intelligent pooch! We'd love to see her go home to a compassionate family who will be patient while she adjusts -- you will be rewarded for your patience! Her ideal home would be a house with a yard and a patient family who will reward her positively for her progress. Due to her shyness, we don't recommend a home with young kids, but she may do well with teenagers and older who can help Gabbana ease into her new life.

Do you have a soft spot for shepherds? Or perhaps you have another mellow or older dog at home who could use a companion? Meet Gabbana today and see the loving companion she is!
